The Council’s Functions

TheTeaching staffs' Council shall have the following functions and authorities:

            1/ Adoption of curricula and studyplans submitted by colleges, schools, institutes and centres

            2/ Approval of academic and activityregulations, behaviour and accountability of students

            3/ Approval of the results of theexaminations

            4/ Awarding academic grades, awardsand honorary degrees

            5/ Submits to the Board of Trusteesproposal of establishing and organizing new colleges, schools, institutes,centres, departments and study programmes

                6/- Organizing scientificresearch, fibrosis and publishing

            7/ Submits to the Board of Trusteesthe conditions of appointment and promotion of faculty members.

            8/ Determining the conditions foradmission to colleges, schools, institutes and centres in accordance with theCouncil's regulations

            9/ determining the number ofstudents admitted annually to the university and distributing them to collegesand schools in accordance with the national plans and programs

            10/ Approval of internal andexternal examiners nominated by college boards and scientific centres

            11/ Issuing regulations governingits work

            12/ Any other tasks assigned by theBoard of Trustees

The Council’s Members

The Academic Staff Council is to be formed asfollows

Themembers of the Board of Professors are as follows:

1/The University President as President

2/Deputy President as a Vice President

3/The University Administrative and Financial Manager: Member

4/Librarian:member

5/Deans of Faculties and schools and directors of institutes and centres: members

6/Dean of Students’ Affairs: member

7/Faculty members who are in the rank of professor: Members

8/Heads of departments are members: Members

            9/A representative from each faculty, school, institute or centre on conditionthat the number of professors in the institute or centre is not less thanseven: Members

10/At least five members with scientific competence and eligibility are chosen bythe President of the Board in consultation with deans of faculties anddirectors of institutes, schools and centres, to be from outside the universitywho are in the level of professors as much as possible: Members

11/Assistant Director for Scientific Research, Graduate Studies and ForeignRelations: Member

12/Four members selected by the President of the National Council for HigherEducation and Scientific Research: members

13/Secretary of Scientific Affairs member and rapporteur

            14/Two students representatives: members

Council’s meetings

-        Academic Staff Councilmeets at least four times per year at times and places specified by itspresident and may invite for any emergency meeting whenever it is necessary.

-        The quorum of themeetings of the Council is complete in the presence of more than half of themembers

-        The council's decisionsare approved by the majority of those who are present and in the event of atie, the President has an extra vote.
