A briefing on College of Medicine

- AlMughtaribeen University College of Medicine was established in the year 2010 as one of four first colleges the university started with. By now four batches of medical graduates are there on the job since 2015. These graduates have gained good reputation nationally and internationally.

- AlMughtaribeen University is an independent educational institute that academically adheres to the rules and guidance of the Sudan Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

- MU premises are located in Gabra strict, Squire 19, almost the center of the capital city of Khartoum which makes it easy to reach to all facilities and places in connection with the academic process.

- MU manages well-structured curricula with a continuous process of developing, as well as a continuous process of renewal and updating of the medical educational program.

- One of MU main objectives is to graduate medical physicians who are qualified to serve the fundamental purposes of medicine and who are capable of dealing with the problems and diseases of the human being.

- Besides dealing with health services, our graduates are capable of participating in medical research projects and continuous higher education.

- Admission to MU College of medicine requires a score of 80% and above in Sudan School Certificate (SSC). Other non-Sudanese school certificates may apply after being equalized according to Sudan MHESR standards.

- Newly admitted students start at level one where they begin with studying university requirements, basic scientific subjects in addition to English and Arabic languages. Studying the two languages is essential to ensure good standard of conceiving and applying medical subjects for graduation and future practice.

- A medical student may not proceed from level three to level four unless he/she has successfully passed all studied subjects. Having completed five years of study, the student shall be entitled to graduation certificate.

- MU College of Medicine is well equipped with laboratory, staff and technicians to help students to acquire good knowledge and practical experience in those basic and preclinical studies.

- The study program includes Medical Ethics and professionalism so graduates are capable of dealing with ethical issues related to patients.

- MU College of Medicine provide sufficient and well experienced medical staff to include teaching assistants, lecturers and professors in the different departments of the college.

- The college syllabus covers aspects of humanities, social and behavioral sciences that are relevant to medicine. The college enjoys respect and appreciation by other medical colleges and by the community at large for the excellence in teaching, research and clinical care.

- As part of the college mission, we use many facilities and resources whether human or material to provide health care and education to the public; in relation to this, the college includes a Community Health Department within its structure.

- The academic rules that regulate the academic process are well established so that the student can fulfill all academic requirements to become a competent physician.

- The clinical studies are practiced in major and big hospitals where all clinical departments plus Emergency Medicine are available.

- College examinations are well structured, prepared and organized according to the international laws. These include for example MCQs, OSPE and OSCE.

- MU includes a Students’ Affairs Deanship to deal with any academic, social or financial problems students might face.

- There is a well-established medical clinic to handle miner health problems that students, staff or workers might face.

1- The provision of excellent undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing health professions education

2- The conduction of basic research that contributes to the advancement of  knowledge & to the high quality relevant applied research that contributes in the solution of local, regional & international health problems

3- The use of its facilities and resources, both human & material, to provide health care and education to the public.

We will be distinguished for preparing graduates who achieve excellence in their chosen fields and who demonstrate extraordinary compassion and commitment to the service of others.

Goals of the College of Medicine

  • Develop self-directed learners who will continuously develop as caring physicians during graduate training and practice.
  • Enable students to acquire a strong foundation in the basic and clinical sciences and in those aspects of the humanities, social and behavioral sciences that are relevant to medicine.
  • Foster in students the development of the skills necessary for the competent practice of medicine throughout their professional career.
  • Help students appreciate and understand the diverse values that are brought by health care professionals, patients, family, and society to the practice of medicine.
  • Be flexible in meeting the needs of the individual student, by using a variety of learning strategies and formats.
