Malnutrition is a serious condition that occurs when a person’s diet doesn't contain the right amount of nutrients, either too little or too much

Malnutrition means "poor nutrition" and can refer to:

  • Under-nutrition – when you don't get enough nutrients
  • Over-nutrition – when you get more nutrients than you need

Childhood undernutrition is an underlying cause of 35 percent of deaths among children under five years old in the developing world. Sudan has persistent elevated levels of undernutrition. 31 percent of children under age five are underweight and 32.5 percent are stunted.

Students should be able to:

  • Be trained on how to measure children thoroughly.
  • Use the scaling instruments properly.
  • Know how to calculate the BMI.
  • Healths educate the mothers about malnutrition and how to deal with it under such condition.
